The presentations that Sarah currently provides are:
§ Elder Abuse: Breaking the Cycle – This presentation is a comprehensive review of elder abuse and its side effects. Through discussion we cover both the subtle and overt signs of abuse and how to best diagnose it. The discussion revolves around the laws of the State in which it is presented. It covers who you should call in each situation and gives the audience a chance to be totally involved in the process of the program. This presentation can be beneficial to seniors, caregivers and families alike.
§ Your Life Stress and Stress Management – This presentation brings the caregiver, family member and senior to an understanding of how we were raised and how to change the past and embrace the needs that we all have. With stress reduction so shall there be reduction in abuse! Learning through laughter is the model.
§ One Call Does it All: Single Point of Entry – This new program in Michigan is explained with stories and real life examples of how the Single Point of Entry model will change healthcare in Michigan. The program takes a look into Colorado, whose form of Single Point of Entry has been running since 1991.
§ Vermicomposting: Composting for the Rest of Us – This is a lighthearted program on the reduction of personal waste and how a senior could compost without the rigorous tasks that other types of composting require. It also gives the listener an overview of the life of these little worms and the ability for the audience to create their own compost bin.
§ Changing the Culture of Long-Term Care, One Plant at a Time – Culture Change is an important element in long-term care success. Learn the basics on how you, through the introduction of resident based care and front-line staff empowerment, can change your facility for the better. This new idea is not for the faint at heart!
